Our family headed out for a second day at the temples here in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Then the girls and Marla rested and relaxed by the pool and at the hotel while I headed out for a quick stop at Angkor Wat and a sunset at Phnom Bakheng. While rushing through Angkor Wat for 30 minutes, I enjoyed a chat with Jame, a monk sitting on the steps at Angkor Wat. He asked if I wanted to have a seat and chat. Luckily I did have 10 minutes before I had to leave. He was very kind and even gave me his email address. He’ll be receiving some nice photos of himself, that’s for sure! Thanks Jame!
Will return to the Angkor temples tomorrow here in Siem Reap, Cambodia. This morning we enjoyed joining over 200 Asia’s Hope orphanage children from across the country for a Christmas celebration. Grabbed a quick bite to eat at The Blue Pumpkin, then had a great time shooting photos of five graduate students from EGBOK Mission (equip and transition less fortunate youth to work in some awesome five star hotels and various places in the hospitality industry). Thanks to the help of Jasmine Perry (on staff with the mission). We chatted for a bit at one of the five hotels, Hotel De La Paix, and marveled at the Christmas tree. The tree consists of 3,000 goose feathers, each suspended by a piece of string and a nail in the ceiling above their water/reflecting pool. It was made to show that although Cambodia isn’t respected too much in the world, it is a very beautiful place! I would agree!
